Hi, my name is Naomi Berry and I started Ballet at Allsteps Dance Academy when I was 4 years old; alongside Ballet, I also studied Tap and Modern.
Throughout my 14 years at Allsteps, I received exceptional training which enabled me to successfully audition for the Cecchetti Associate programme, based in Newport, when I was 11 years old. I also auditioned for the National Dance Company Wales Associate programme when I was 15 and stayed there for 3 years. This opportunity led me to develop my interest for Contemporary Dance, whilst enhancing my enthusiasm for Ballet, Tap and Modern.
During my final year at Sixth Form, I decided to audition for three Contemporary Dance Conservatoires based in the UK. I was fortunate enough to be accepted into two of the schools and decided to continue my dance training at Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD) in Leeds. Since being at NSCD, I have had the chance to feature in an official music video for a Country & Western band based in Rochdale, UK. Whilst Contemporary is the main genre I specialise in, Ballet still forms a core foundation for my everyday practice.
I am very grateful for my training at Allsteps because it set me up with the relevant skills needed to be in vocational training today. Without the confidence, discipline and professionalism that Allsteps has instilled in me, I would not be in the position I am in at present, studying for a Contemporary Dance Degree.
