Dear Parents and Dancers
The Government announced on Tuesday, 23rd June that Dance Studios, amongst some other activity based businesses, must remain closed. I am really disappointed but not entirely surprised. We are currently waiting for further guidance to be released, to ensure that our return in September is as safe as possible for all Students. All new information on return dates and our procedures will be sent out to you via email and will be published on our Website and Facebook page, in plenty of time to prepare for the new term.
We are planning on a 14-week Autumn Term, all being well. When the invoices are prepared, you will be charged for a 12-week term in order to make up for the two weeks we lost in the Spring Term due to the Covid-19 lockdown.
During this time away from teaching, I have been busy home schooling my two (not always willing!) boys. I'm sure many of you can relate to this - I can confirm that I’m still terrible at maths! Apart from this, I have occupied myself with some online courses and training, which have been both interesting and informative.
On another happier note, I have wonderful news about students that have been successful in gaining places at top Vocational Dance Schools. Naomi Berry will be going to study at Northern School of Contemporary Dance and Trinity Maguire-Toombs will be studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance in London. I am immensely proud of them both and I know that they will seize the opportunity offered to them. Having taught them both from a very young age I am sad to see them leave but wish them all the luck in the world and look forward to seeing how they flourish.
Another former pupil, Gareth Haw (see image above), has been promoted to Soloist with Semperoper Ballet, Dresden - what an amazing achievement! One to watch for sure.
I hope you’re all keeping safe and well and I look forward to seeing you all in September.
Best wishes
Miss Rafferty
